The ESAIC organises annual events such as the Euroanaesthesia (EA) Congress and Focus Meeting (FM) to facilitate the exchange of knowledge among anaesthesiologists and healthcare professionals.

The ESAIC has a long history of organising annual scientific events such as the Euroanaesthesia Congress and the Focus Meeting, which disseminate the latest advancements in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain management, and perioperative medicine. These events provide a platform for networking, foster professional connections and partnerships, and ensure attendees remain current with cutting-edge knowledge and practices.

This comprehensive event catered to a wide range of interests within the fields of anaesthesia and intensive care and was again offered in a hybrid format to allow for in-person attendance in Glasgow or online for the virtual event.
Key highlights of the congress included 131 scientific sessions built over 17 diverse learning tracks, ensuring that a wide range of topics, from general anaesthesiology to intensive care, critical emergency and pain medicine, were covered. This approach catered to the specific interests of our diverse audience, approaching science from the different angles of patients, organs, therapies and more. Scientific sessions have been planned in various formats to increase interactions and adapt to all learning preferences.
As a continuing tradition at the Congress, the programme featured 34 workshops and 6 serious games designed to offer a mix of interactive learning experiences. This approach actively engaged Euroanaesthesia delegates, promoting innovation in medical education. Delegates had the opportunity to acquire both technical and non-technical skills through a variety of practical workshops, serious games, and simulation sessions targeted at all levels of participants.
The ESAIC Expo, featuring its special programme, was once again dedicated to showcasing ESAIC projects and initiatives. Delegates had the opportunity to meet and engage with key stakeholders from ESAIC projects and Committees.
The Exhibition area highlighted the involvement of 69 industry partners and 844 exhibitors, providing a platform for showcasing innovative and cutting-edge developments in the field.
Euroanaesthesia 2023 provided a unique opportunity for attendees to expand their knowledge, explore innovative techniques, review guidelines, and learn about patient safety and sustainability. The event facilitated the exchange of ideas and fostered professional connections and collaborations among a diverse international audience.
The high level of participation and engagement at Euroanaesthesia 2023 reflects the dynamic and vibrant nature of this annual event, driving advancements and maintaining high standards in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine.
The Euroanaesthesia 2023 Congress, held from 3 to 5 June in Glasgow, United Kingdom, was a resounding success, attracting over 4,950 participants from 103 countries.

Euroanaesthesia 2023 in numbers

In 2023, the Focus Meeting on Brain Health took place on 25 November, attracting 162 participants from various countries worldwide. The event centred on brain health, featuring discussions on the latest advancements in understanding brain health, innovative monitoring techniques, and potential therapeutic pathways, meticulously planned with the expertise of internationally recognised leaders in the field.
The meeting aimed to enhance understanding of brain insult causes and prevention through keynote speeches from a diverse faculty, ensuring a comprehensive perspective. It served as a prime platform for experts to share knowledge, engage with peers, and improve brain health understanding, thereby enhancing patient care.
The ESAIC Community traditionally holds the Focus Meeting in the autumn. Every year, the congress focuses on a different topic related to Perioperative Medicine.
