Becoming a Fellow of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (FESAIC™) is a prestigious honour awarded to healthcare professionals for significant contributions to the field. The Fellowship acknowledges members' achievements and promotes the advancement of anaesthesiology and intensive care. In 2023, many applications were received from across Europe and other continents. Eighteen FESAICs were awarded, including three honorary members who received their awards during the opening ceremony at Euroanaesthesia 2023 in Glasgow.
Fellowship (FESAIC)
The ESAIC Mentorship Programme supports early-career researchers in anaesthesiology and intensive care by connecting them with experienced mentors for two-year, one-on-one guidance. This initiative focuses on fostering research skills, sharing knowledge, and achieving personal academic goals. Mentees and mentors collaborate to set objectives and maintain regular contact throughout the mentorship period. Eligibility requires membership and institutional affiliation in Europe.
The 2023-2025 ESAIC Mentorship Programme selected 15 mentor-mentee pairs and launched at Euroanaesthesia 2023 in Glasgow. The programme includes workshops, such as the inaugural EJA-ESAIC session on manuscript submission, analysis, and review, which received 32 registrations.

The Trainee Exchange Programme Committee became the Exchange Programme Committee, broadening its mission and opening exchange opportunities for trainees and early-career specialists. A call for training was launched in 2023: 78 applications were received, and 35 trainings were confirmed in renowned host centres in Europe. The offer has been enlarged by offering new opportunities thanks to the collaboration with EACTAIC and the launch of the Specialist Exchange Program in Simulation.

The Committee for European Education in Anaesthesiology (CEEA committee) revised the Courses Programme in 2023, taking into consideration the updated European Training Requirement (ETR) in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care from the Committee on Education and Professional Development (EPD) of the Section and European Board of Anaesthesiology (EBA).
The new CEEA curriculum comprises components that include the fundamentals of the ETR and a selection of online learning resources and tools that could assist the regional centres in their programme implementation efforts.
Meanwhile, many of the 49 centres have restarted the course organisation face-to-face, creating new momentum for this longstanding ESAIC project.

The Trainees Committee significantly contributed to the 2023 online educational offerings by organising five Facebook Lives focusing on daily clinical practice cases and the EDAIC examination.
Trainees participated as faculty in the Theme of the Month Webinars and Focus Meeting 2023, tasked with summarising session learning points for all attendees, particularly benefiting younger participants.
